I thought these little signs attached to other posts were a useful reminder to unthinking cyclists not to attach their bikes where they might interfere with the handicapped.
But.
The plate on the car is that of a volunteer firefighter. And it has a handicapped sticker. How does that person actually fight fires?
Don’t forget that more than one person can use a vehicle! There’s no reason the car can’t belong to a couple, one of whom fights fires while the other has mobility issues.
I agree with the first comment…. we have a child with a disability and use accessible parking spots when he is with us (primarily to safely get him through parking lots). It does not impact our ability to give our time to other great causes.
Could also be retired, and/or bought the plate before acquiring the disability.
